Field Experience

Picture

For the passion of
Curiosity and Citizenry

Field Experience was borne out of a desire to stoke up curiosity and citizenry in people:

exploring, experiencing, and learning
about what the world around us has to offer,

and using our talents and giftings to build up our world
to make it a better place.

Vision

We dream of a future ...
  • bustling with people who have field-proven experience, upholding strong society-building values,
  • when people are confident, responsible, empathetic, and active global citizens.
  • when all citizens use our talents to improve our community, our land we live in, and beyond our shores.

Mission

  • Field Experience equips leaders to serve their team by building trust, synergy, and purpose so that they not only do their jobs well but are also enabled to contribute to the positive impact that’s congruent to their organisation's chosen UN Sustainable Development Goals.
  • We specialise in facilitating and training, even in international collaboration.
  • We train, facilitate, and leverage using effective experiential approaches to equip people.
  • We focus on humility, reciprocity and strength-focused community development approaches.

Our name and our logo

The name Field Experience is simple, call a spade a spade. Not just virtual, but actual. Juxtaposed to this, contemporary society is becoming more and more preoccupied with the virtual. So, the importance of going out there and getting experience from the field is probably the most crucial pivoting point of one's learning; an urgent need to complement 'wiki' knowledge with real-world experience.

Our logo is very personal to the founder. He first learnt of it in 1983; three simple white rectangles on a black background. It looked like a shelter, an entrance to a colosseum's corridor of some sort. As he looked at it more, he saw the invisible T. It had two simple but important lessons for him: firstly - keep it simple; second - look, look closer, & look again.

These amazing people shape our philosophy of learning

Try to leave this world a little better than you found it and, when your turn comes to die, you can die happy in feeling that at any rate you have not wasted your time but
have done your best

I regard it as the foremost task of education to insure the survival of these qualities:
an enterprising curiosity,
an undefeatable spirit,
 tenacity in pursuit,
readiness for
sensible self denial,
and above all, compassion

I don’t know what your destiny
will be, but one thing I do know:
the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have
sought and found how to serve
